I keep thinking I know what my writing problem is, which I think is a story problem.  The real problem is, I keep not knowing how to fix it.

I posted last night, surrended the PC to Zor, and then went in to get some kind of grocery list made (so I would not be haphazardly flinging food into the cart today and then out of groceries and money halfway through the pay period) when it hit me, how to fix the last two hateful hateful chapters.

Yesterday's GrapeMo progress: 110 minutes.

All on one chapter. Not even the whole chapter. Oh my holy crap, how I crapped up that chapter! So much crap we could fertilize death valley, plant corn, feed chickens, and bring down the price of eggs.

THANK YOU GOD I don't have to look at Chapter 14 again for a while. Aliens EVERY FREAKIN WHERE. I have keyboard shaped bruises on my forehead, and the text thus produced is BETTER than what came out in first draft.

I am WIPED OUT.

This experience came with extra added aggravation, because I do (sort of) introduce something alien-ish in chapter ( Read more... )

I figured out how to get J-guy from A to B, or more accurately why  he should go there, so that he's serving his own motives and not the plot.

However...

I just remembered why I've been obsessively avoiding any revisions in the last two days.

I need to get character J from point A to point B, and due to changes earlier in the story there is no reason whatsoever for him to go there.

Did I say ACK?
